Final Cuckoos Nest Blog

1. Why do you think Chief spoke and continued to speak to Mcmurphy?
Chief first spoke to Mcmurphy unintentionally. Then I think Chief continued to speak to Mcmurphy because he was someone Chief respected and trusted. Then Mcmurphy and Chief went to Disturbed together and I think that formed a bond between them.

2. What does the Big Nurse symbolize?
I think that the Big Nurse symbolizes society. She wanted the patients to get better just like society did. All of her viewpoints and the things she did were based on the outside society.

3. Was Mcmurphy successful with his rebellion?
I think Mcmurphy was partially successful. He succeeded in having the other patients leave the ward and go out on their own. But Mcmurphy did not succeed in getting out of the ward himself. He died as a result of his rebellion which was definitely not part of his plan.

4. Was Chief a good narrator?
Yes he was. Chief saw everything that was going on in the ward. He never said anything so he got to go anywhere and give us the whole story. Also, if Chief wasn't the narrator we probably would not have liked Mcmurphy as much, if even at all.

Cuckoos Nest blog Part 2

1. It is close but McMurphy is winning his rivalry with the Big Nurse. A main reason for his position is because he made Nurse Ratchet lose control of the acutes. When McMurphy convinced the acutes to just sit in front of the television screen, Nurse Ratchet loses her composure.
2. The Chief is still observant but I do not feel as if he is still a reliable narrator. Signs of his mental illness are starting to show easier now. McMurphy has made the Chief more hopeful. I think this because Chief is starting to attend group therapies. One example is that when McMurphy needed another vote for majority, Chief voted for him. As a result of McMurphy, I think Chief's personality may be changing,
3. I am rooting for McMurphy because he stands up against the Big Nurse and brings some personality and excitement to this book. Standing up to the Big Nurse also indirectly helps the other patients.

Jelly Roll Morton

I envision this music playing a part of Gastby's parties by being the upbeat song that everyone dances to.
The mood is happy/cheerful. It is that way because the beat is uptempo, the instruments play high sounds and it produces sounds that are light. Activities that go along with this music are dancing. I could also envision this song being in a Tom and Jerry cartoon.

Justin Bua

He has the emphasizing parts of the picture coming out at you. Things always seem to be towering over something else. He uses organic shapes. He depicts some African American life. Every person in the picture was doing something musical.

Sixteen Military Wives

1. The song is about ignorance in America and how we try to get into everyone else's problems.
2. The theme of this song is that there is greed, ignorance and unquestioned blind following in America. For example, if we start a war, we don't question it, we just fight.

Race for the Prize

1. The theme for this song is about a war. The scientists are determined to make a new weapon before the opposing army can defeat them. They are in a race against time so they do not die. The scientists are determined because the lives of the nation depend on them. But in the end, they fail.

Incarcerated Americans

- The only decade in which we had a decline in incarcerated Americans was 1940-1950
-There are 2 million more incarcerated Americans in 2008 than there were in 1980
-The graph takes place between 1920 and 2008
-Drugs have put the most people in federal jail in 2010
Fallacy-Drugs have always put the most people in jail
Fallacy-the number of incarcerated people will continue to rise
-the number of people in federal prison is less than those in other prisons combined
